FirstCare Individual/Family Marketplace Plans—NOW AVAILABLE!

Our 2017 Qualified Health Plan (QHP) Individual and Family Plans are now available for your clients to enroll in on both HealthCare.gov and our direct enrollment portal. The 2017 Open Enrollment Period runs through Thursday, December 15, 2016, for coverage starting January 1, 2017.
 

  • Reminder on Enrolling:  For this year’s open enrollment period, all enrollments must be completed using FirstCare’s direct enrollment portal, HealthCare.gov or by calling Total Benefit Solutions—our enrollment partner—at 1.877.783.9088
  • Key Dates/Deadlines:  Below is a quick listing of key dates and deadlines for you and your clients during the 2017 Open Enrollment Period.
November 1, 2016 First day to enroll, re-enroll, or change a 2017 insurance plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Coverage can start as soon as January 1, 2017
December 15, 2016 Last day to enroll in or change plans for coverage to start January 1, 2017.
January 1, 2017 2017 coverage starts for those who enroll or change plans by December 15.
January 31, 2017 Last day to enroll in or change a 2017 health plan. After this date, you can enroll or change plans only if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.

Annual Tax Statements for FirstCare Members—Form 1095-B

Last month, we let you know that the IRS had extended the deadline for the ACA-required annual health care statements to March 31, 2016. Well, good news—as of Monday, February 1, FirstCare has begun sending these documents out to their intended recipients—well in advance of the March 31 deadline!
 
Your clients do not need to take any further action to obtain their Form 1095-B as all of our commercial and/or fully-funded FirstCare subscribers will receive one for 2015. Similar to a W-2 tax statement, employees will need to submit their 1095-B form as part of their annual tax filing.
 

  • NOTE:  Your clients, and/or their employees, will still need to contact their payroll vendor to obtain their information regarding Form 1095-C—These statements are due to the IRS by May 31, 2016 (if filing their taxes by paper) or June 30, 2016 (if filing electronically).

FirstCare Transitioning to New PBM in 2016—Navitus Health Solutions

We are pleased to inform our agent community of an exciting change in our prescription drug program for 2016. Effective January 1, 2016, Navitus Health Solutions will be the exclusive pharmacy benefits manager for all of your FirstCare Health Plans clients. This move simplifies and consolidates FirstCare's pharmacy processes, and improves our services to your clients. FirstCare and Navitus are committed to lowering drug costs, improving health, and providing superior customer service.
 
Our mail-order and specialty pharmacy vendors are also aligning under Navitus as these services will be offered through Navitus’ partners NoviXus (mail-order) and Lumicera (specialty pharmacy).
 
Last month, we began reissuing FirstCare Member ID cards to your clients whose prescription drug benefits/formulary changes on January 1 as part of this transition.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Please remind your clients that these new ID cards will not be effective until January 1, 2016. If they attempt to fill a prescription with these new cards prior to that date, the prescription will be processed by Express Scripts, Inc. (the current PBM), and the member may encounter issues if they have a prescription for an item that is not covered under Express Scripts’ formulary.
